This Upcoming adidas Forum Honors The Chinese Invention Of Printing With Movable Parts

In adidas’ case, Chinese New Year is more an opportunity to celebrate China’s rich culture and history as a whole. For their commemorative Forum Mid, the brand has opted to pay tribute to one of the most important Chinese inventions of all-time: printing.

This is achieved through one of the most elaborate designs the silhouette has ever seen. While the colorway is simple — only bearing a white shade throughout the base construction — the tweaks laid atop are far from ordinary. Thanks to a number of different loops, one can hook many a stamp onto the shoe itself, a few motifs dressed with red ink while others are left blank to keep in line with the mostly achromatic palette. Their characters, which bounce from English to Chinese, are mirrored to more accurately mimic the printing process. What’s more, it seems the Three Stripes laid onto the profile as well as the tongue’s on-theme branding are attached to their respective points via velcro, allowing you to further customize the pair down to the finest detail.

Grab a detailed look at these right here, and according to adidas JP, we should be seeing an adidas.com release soon on January 9th.

In other news, the adidas Ultraboost 21 Solar Yellow will be arriving this February.
