Over the last few years, PUMA has made a resurgence in public consciousness thanks to forays into modern-day performance-basketball and strategy partnerships with high-profile influencers in the entertainment space. As it begins 2021, the sportswear company is focusing on celebrating its history by way of some of its most revolutionary designs. Case in point: DISC technology found on the XS 7000.
While laceless sneakers existed well before 1991, they didn’t exist quite like PUMA’s propositions. Tightening and loosening the laces on models like the XS 7000 are achieved via a rotating ring towards the top of the tongue. The wire-like laces controlled by the DISC are visible around the tongue, and hide underneath profile overlays as they travel towards the midsole. Forthcoming commemorative pairs indulge in both an original neon green arrangement and retro-inspired pink and teal makeups. Mesh, suede and leather construction appears throughout each option’s upper, while IMEVA cushioning in the midsole opts for tried-and-proven color schemes.
Enjoy a look at both XS 7000 pairs ahead, and find the shoes launching at select retailers throughout the month.
Elsewhere in anniversary-celebrating, the Air Jordan 6 “Carmine” returns on February 13th.
