Maison Margiela And Reebok Further Intertwine Their Icons With The Classic Leather Tabi

During the Fall of last year, Maison Margiela and Reebok turned the Instapump Fury into a high fashion centerpiece — the silhouette’s beloved, performance-informed construction warped to better complement the Tabi-toed boots with which it was combined. Months after the collaboration’s release, which was, to say the least, met with divisive responses, the two are teaming up once again, further meshing ideas atop the equally beloved Classic Leather.

Here, the same ideas from the Instapump Fury are effectively filtered down, made more palatable for a broader audience. The general design retains the beloved features of the Classic Leather, with the tooling, terry cloth lining, lace unit, and paneling kept relatively intact. Its toe box, however, cuts right down the center in mimicry of the Tabi boots popularized by Margiela himself. What’s more, the pair also pays tribute to the Belgian designer in its hastily painted white coat, one that will likely wear away with time much like his works with Converse many years prior.
