Nike’s “Sashiko” Theme Continues With This Woven Blazer Mid ’77

Nike’s “Sashiko” Theme Continues With This Woven Blazer Mid ’77

The Nike Blazer Mid ’77 has delivered budget-friendlier, timeless options to sneaker enthusiasts since returning to NIKE. Inc.’s core line of products in 2019. And while the silhouette seems poised to continue its run as “ol’ reliable,” it’s also appeared in dozens of special iterations. Case in point: Another pair inspired by traditional Japanese Sashiko.

As with previous takes featuring the Eastern method of embroidery or stitching, the forthcoming pair indulges in a “Midnight Navy”-reminiscent palette. Toe boxes and profiles don a woven construction that delivers contrasting texture to surrounding suede overlays. Logos on the sides deviate from the mid-top Blazer’s rather tonal arrangement with their black makeup, but are overshadowed by the contrasting, decorative red laces attached to non-standard, metallic gold eye-stays right about them. Elsewhere, functional laces, heel underlays and midsoles partake in a white color scheme, with rears donning Asian typography. Outsoles round out the impressive pair with their gum brown styling.

An official Nike SNKRS release date is still unknown, but this Blazer Mid-variant is likely to launch before summer. In the meantime, enjoy images of the shoes here below.

While yet to offer another Sashiko-styled proposition, Nike SB launches the colorful “Street Hawker” Dunk on January 22nd.
