While many of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG releases have had a clear-cut intent behind them, the upcoming “Patina” colorway – despite its attractiveness – suffers from a bit of an identity crisis. Half of the shoe exudes that aged luxury, with the bronze patina finish covering the toe, lace collar and Swoosh, matched perfected with a matted black leather for an ultimate level of refined elegance reminiscent of whisky and cigar rooms. The heel, however, bridges back to sport with a “Shadow” like build on the heel and ankle, while the sudden hit of mint green on the embroidered patch and insole throws us in for a loop. What exactly is the inspiration behind these?

The colorway and the materials are certainly on point, although some will raise the issue with the aforementioned tongue label, because these easily could’ve gone the OG flap route without the messiness of the exposed stitching. Despite this relative miscue, we project these to sell out immediately upon release.

A release was originally scheduled for March, but given that nearly every sneaker release has been postponed due to shipping delays caused my inclement weather, we’ll wait for an official notice from the SNKRS App. See the official images for now, and stay tuned for the official note.

In the meantime, check out the store list for the Jordan 4 Taupe Haze.

Updated March 5th, 2021: The Foot Locker calendar confirms a release date for March 13th, 2021.
