Jasmine Tang With Nike steadily carrying out its Move to Zero sustainability-focused campaign, the brand’s eco-conscious materials innovations such as Regrind rubber and Crater foam have been making appearances on both classic, fan-favorite silhouettes and more modern designs. The Waffle Racer Crater manages to do it all, as a fresh take on the heritage-inspired Nike Waffle Racer that incorporates both aforementioned recycled materials. It now returns in a versatile white, black, and grey mix similar to a lunar color palette.
The pair sees white textile uppers with grey suede overlays on the toe and heel. Midfoot, there are white panels constructed of recycled twill. Stark, black Swooshes decorate the sides, featuring a zig-zag contrast stitch that runs along a portion of the Swoosh’s edges. The same stitching details also land on the front, near the laces. As for the sole unit, Regrind rubber is applied to the patented waffle outsole, which also envelopes the grey crater foam midsole. The sole’s speckled effect and the greyscale theme craft a futuristic look reminiscent of moon landings and other lunar themes.
