Zion Williamson is no longer one of the most exciting rookies to watch in the NBA, but the 20-year-old has recently made headlines with both his on-court play and off-court comments regarding having wanted to play for the New York Knicks. Furthermore, the current New Orleans Pelican has garnered notable coverage thanks to his first signature basketball sneaker, the Jordan Zion 1.
Set to debut on April 23rd in a versatile black and white color scheme, Williamson’s shoe has also been previewed in a glow-in-the-dark “ZNA” colorway scheduled to launch on May 5th. Clad in a mix of “Blue Void/Fierce Purple/Indigo Haze,” the forthcoming pair speaks to the duality of Williamson’s game: powerful and graceful; understated and dominant; and strong and smooth. While seemingly at odds, these qualities have led the North Carolina-native to become one of the most prominent “position-less” players of the last two years; there’s no doubt Williamson can score using brute force, but he’s displayed flashes of finesse on a regular-enough basis that his game can’t be boxed in. The Zion 1‘s textile and synthetic construction is not only animated the “Bright Crimson” at the base and top of the tongue, but also via the speckling found from vamp to heel. This detail and the opaque tread underfoot indulge in glow-in-the-dark capabilities rooted in the doubleness of Williamson’s on-court performances.
