Jovani Hernandez In mid-January, Converse teased a number of collaborators for its Spring/Summer 2021 lineup. Among it, names like Kim Jones and Comme des Garçons PLAY, but most recently, Keith Haring has been announced as partnering with the Boston-based brand for the first time ever. This collaboration’s inaugural drop includes four footwear products, four apparel items and the launch of the Converse By You Chuck 70 customization program.
As has been the case in previous joint-effort capsules from the century-old company, Haring’s first-ever project with the One-Star Brand features a Run Star Hike Hi, Pro Leather Ox, Chuck Taylor All Star and Chuck 70 Hi. All four styles indulge in predominantly muted “White/Black” or “White/Blue” colorways, and unsurprisingly indulge in a number of arrangements highlighting Haring’s world-renowned bold graphics. Hits of red help animate the understated options, appearing most prominently on the Run Star Hike Hi, but also delivering flair to the accompanying heritage models. Whether placed atop canvas or leather construction, the late Haring’s iconic expressions of self, accessibility and companionship deliver as powerful a message today as when they first graced vacant billboards of the New York subway during the 1980s.
The Keith Haring x Converse collection arrives to Converse.com on May 13th. Pricing for the footwear varies between $65 USD (Chuck Taylor All Star) and $120 USD (Run Star Hike Hi).
