Michael Le With his latest Nike collaboration — the Air Max Tailwind V — soon upon us, Skepta is already quite busy. But as revealed today, it looks like the artist has yet another surprise in store: a matching Phantom football boot.
An avid fan and participant of the game, Skepta is appropriately the very first music artist to see a collaboration of this kind. And though distinct in purpose, the Phantom effortlessly complements the Tailwind thanks to its own “Bloody Chrome” colorway. The red butterfly print dresses the uppers all the same, exploring the concept of metamorphosis; chrome Swooshes, then, accent just adjacent, alluding to the rapper’s jewelry in tandem with the performance-fitted soleplate. What’s more, the heel features subtle iridescent paneling in nod to the thermographic cover art of 2019’s “Ignorance is Bliss.”
