Nike Sportswear has been producing heritage-inspired footwear for decades. And while some propositions have been unrecognizable from their muses, the Nike Waffle One leaves no doubt as to what informed it.
Widely-considered a budget-friendly version of sacai‘s most-coveted collaboration with the Swoosh, the Waffle One has yet to emerge in colorways surely inspired by Chitose Abe’s work. For its latest ensemble, the low-top silhouette has indulged in a predominantly black arrangement. Profile swooshes deliver stark white contrast, and are accompanied by hits of blue and gold that appear on the tongue and heel clip, respectively. Perhaps the most eye-catching detail on the pair, however, is the new mesh net base underneath suede and leather overlays. Furthermore, waffle-patterned outsoles boast a previously-unseen semi-translucent finish with golden speckling from forefoot to heel.
