Throughout its 36-year history, the Air Jordan 1 has struck a healthy balance of heritage and innovation, with the latter manifesting in the form of Flyknit iterations and pairs cushioned with Zoom Air units. For its latest makeover, #23’s first signature sneaker has tapped the weather-resistant stalwarts at GORE-TEX for a winter-ready arrangement.
While unconfirmed, the pair in question is ostensibly a High iteration of the silhouette given the nine lace holes along the tongue. Furthermore, an Air Jordan 1 Mid would deliver less protection around the ankle, which works against the sneakers’ cold weather-purpose. Textured fabric across the upper indulges in a “Shadow”-reminiscent color palette with paneling at the ankle and bottom heel boasting a “Light Smoke Grey”-like tone; the latter area features embroidered “GORE-TEX” branding. Profile swooshes, like the midsole, deviate from their greyscale surroundings with a white makeup. Initial images of the style don’t reveal a reworked tread pattern, but it’s possible the retro has gotten some updates to tackle the toughest conditions.

Elsewhere under the Team Jumpman banner, the “Cool Grey” 11s land before 2021 ends.
