First introduced as a collaborative style with Casablanca, the New Balance XC-72 is a contemporary, busier take on a retro runner. NB continues to develop its roster of inline XC-72s with a new greyscale colorway that reflects the space-age look of the silhouette.
The new arrangement consists of a metallic silver leather base that is complemented by suede overlays and lacestays in various greys. While an oversized black “N” logo decorates the lateral side, the medial side sees the branding in grey suede instead. The tongue and heel overlay introduce a cream shade to disrupt the greyscale color palette—but a sleek look is still maintained. As for the sole unit, a unique “split” look is achieved with the use of two different traction patterns in either black or grey. A white mesh stripe down the tongue along with the strip of white rubber underfoot emphasizes the split approach to round out the futuristic design.
Take a closer look at the XC-72 below, which will hit newbalance.com on September 12th with a price tag of $120.
