While overshadowed by newer kin, the New Balance 990v2 has played a pivotal role in furthering the brand’s design heritage and commitment to comfort. After a quiet re-launch stateside, the model heads to retailers overseas in classic grey.
WTAPS, Aimé Leon Dore and Kith have all brought attention to the chunky silhouette over the last two years, but their takes arguably fall short of the praise a tonal greyscale arrangement receives. Premium pig suede sits atop breathable and comfortable mesh for a build that harkens back to the original New Balance 990 from 1982. Currently in its 23rd year in production, the model still boasts the ABZORB cushioning it ushered into New Balance‘s footwear catalog, which further introduced the muted color palette that’s appeared on some of the Boston-based brand’s most important sneakers to date.
