Among sneakers, very few come close to rivaling the Air Jordan 1. Its history, which is closely tied to one of the greatest basketball players of all-time, is rife with notable releases, iconic moments, and even points of controversy. Upon its debut, the “shoe” was banned by the NBA, inspiring Nike to launch a successful campaign based entirely on an overexaggerated contention. And in honor of this ad, the brand has designed the new “Rebellionaire” colorway, preparing it for an early 2022 debut.
Instead of the more appropriate “Black/Red” scheme, the Jumpman has opted to mimic the “Shadow.” And unlike recent interpretations, the color blocking is near identical to that of the OG, using the aforementioned grey atop the outsole, Swoosh, toe box, etc. Then, the phrase “They Can’t Stop You From Wearing Them” is printed atop, covering near every panel with very little blank space. Even the black fixtures are vandalized similarly, though its text is not quite as noticeable as the “X” that paints the heel in red paint.
Enjoy a close-up look at the Air Jordan 1 “Rebellionaire” here and sit tight as we await their March 2022 arrival.
In other news, the Air Jordan 9 Chile Red was recently pushed back to 2022.
