Jovani Hernandez Since releasing her first official Air Jordan collaboration in October 2017, Aleali May has been weaving personal messages, causes and stories into her collaborative footwear. The latest example arrives via a Friends & Family-exclusive Air Jordan 4 inspired by her father’s time in the U.S. military.
Predominantly crafted from ballistic nylon, the pair is replete with desert-appropriate camouflage patterns across the upper. Unlike some retros that’ve releases in the past few years, the not-for-retail Jordan 4 “Veterans Day” keeps its standard mesh construction throughout the tongue and at the profile windows. “Flight” branding on the top of the tongue is replaced with velcro patches nodding to Mr. May’s service in Desert Storm, and time on Fort Carson, CO. The sole unit rounds out the retro’s understated arrangement by also opting for a sand-like color across midsole and outsole components.
