Whether or not you following boxing, you’re likely familiar with Rocky Balboa, the fictional boxer portrayed by Sylvester Stallone. To honor the first “Rocky” film’s 45th anniversary, Italian stalwart Diadora has teamed up with Foot Locker, Inc. for three pairs inspired by the epic opponents the Philadelphia-based fighter has bested.
Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago are brought to sneaker form across the “Rocky Vs.” collection with the help of Keith Shore, an illustrator and native of the “City of Brotherly Love.” Vibrant red and yellow, patriotic blue, grey and red and lush white and sky blue take over respective styles by Diadora. Rocky’s foes’ names are printed on each sneaker’s tongues, with included hangtags depicting them in Shore’s signature aesthetic. Further graphics related to Creed, Lang and Drago are embroidered and printed on the spine and sock-liner, respectively, with the latter showcasing Balboa face-to-face with these fighters. Lastly, a silhouette of the fictional boxer (based on the real-life Chuck Wepner) with his arms up is stamped onto the lateral heel, nodding to one of the “Rocky” saga’s most recognizable moments.
Enjoy images of the collection here below, and find all three pairs arriving to the Foot Locker, Inc. family of brands on Tuesday, December 14th, for $120 USD each.
