At one point, Y-3 was one of adidas’ most exciting endeavors, driving innovation with silhouettes like the Qasa and PureBOOST. And though the sub-label has faded into the background as of recent, they’ve never stopped pushing the envelope with their designs. The newly unveiled Runner 4D Halo exemplifies this well, its design part-inspired by the Y’s Super Position that released all those years ago.
Unlike past iterations, the Runner 4D Halo significantly improves on the line-up’s overall utility. Underneath the 3D-printed sole, the brand has applied what looks like track spikes through the tread. Above, the upper is sleek though reinforced not just with Primeknit but also an exterior layer of open knit. This, while support for the shoe as a whole, serves a more cosmetic purpose, adding texture as well as a place for the trio of dangling strings.
