It’s no secret that the Nike Air Force 1‘s 40th anniversary will include dozens of special releases. And while the full extent of the occasion’s schedule has yet to pan out, the brand has revealed the silhouette’s Crater Flyknit edition in two monochromatic colorways.
Knit upper and recycled sole units aren’t new to Bruce Kilgore’s 40-year-old design, but their presentation and combination on the two newly-surfaced pairs are. Flyknit construction across the uppers introduce new patterns to the low-top Air Force 1, with the greyscale offering boasting chainlink and camouflage-reminiscent patterns. Profile swooshes also opt for an updated look, while heels feature elastic pull tabs that surely deliver improve functionality, especially given the Flynit construction’s sock-like fit. Underfoot, sole units seemingly take a page out of the Nike Space Hippie line that debuted in June 2020, pairing Crater Foam and Nike Grind components together to give Kilgore’s iconic made-for-basketball tooling a modern-day spin.
Enjoy official images of both pairs here below, and expect a Nike.com launch in the coming weeks.
