Sneaker News Back in 2019, No Comply of Austin, TX tapped renowned artist and fellow Austin native Daniel Johnston for a capsule with Vans, highlighting the artist’s signature illustrations on the Era and Slip-On. Later that year, Johnston would tragically pass away, leaving a gaping hole in the Austin community and a void in the global arts and culture scene. A year later, No Comply would honor the life and work of Johnston with a second capsule, furthering his Hi, How Are You Project to ignite the conversation around mental well-being.
In celebrating its 15th Anniversary, No Comply once again revisits this storied partnership, delivering three silhouettes – the Half Cab, Grosso Mid, and Trek slipper; a portion of footwear sales will go towards the Hi, How Are You Project. Furthermore, No Comply has supported The Contemporary Austin in their exhibition “I Live My Broken Dreams”, Daniel Johnston’s first ever museum exhibition, which is currently on display through March 20th. The experience of their exclusive release will include a viewing of the mural, followed by a walk through of the full exhibition and an invitation to the celebration on March 19th.
The entire collection will be sold exclusively through No-Comply Skateshops well as at a pop-up shore in The Contemporary Austin at the Jones Center, Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 12pm to 3pm (includes gift with purchase). The online release will be 7pm Sunday, March 20, 2022 at nocomplyatx.com. A wider release at Vans skate retailers will occur on March 24, 2022.
