Chitose Abe and her sacai label may be best known among sneaker collectors for their Nike LDWaffle and VaporWaffle collaborations, but they’ve also left their mark on other classic Swoosh designs. As the world awaits for the Zoom Air-assisted Nike Cortez the team unveiled via its Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, the Japanese collaborators are launching the Nike Blazer Low “Patent Pack” on March 31st.
While not Abe’s first go-around with Nike’s first official basketball shoe, the latest propositions outfit the silhouette’s low-top iterations in fashion-forward patent leather and monochromatic color palettes. The glossy finish is isolated to the toe box, which appears much less prominent than past patent leather-covered offerings from the brand given the Nike Blazers‘ layout. Nevertheless, whatever is subdued is made up by sacai’s now-signature layered arrangement throughout the remainder of the upper: profile swooshes, tongues and midsole components are stacked atop of their standard counterparts to create an eye-catching style.
