Michael Le In the Summer of 2017, Nike hosted their first NY vs NY tournament, pitting the five boroughs most promising high school prospects against one another. And while it became an annual tradition since, the event was put on pause as a result of COVID-19. But with the world (somewhat) back to normal, the games are to continue, and the brand is celebrating by way of the upcoming Air Force 1 “NY vs NY”
Sat atop a white midsole and gum bottom, the pair’s colorway is a rather subtle celebration of the entire NY vs NY circuit. Black mesh and leathers construct the shoe’s overlays and base, respectively, together setting a neutral foundation on which the bright green embroideries and prints can stand out. And from the toe to the heel, these call out all seven teams — Watson, Dyckman, TriState, Lincoln Park, Uptown Challenge, West 4th, and Gersh Park — all of which are also featured across the insole.
Affixed with the “NY vs NY” tongue label, this commemorative Air Force 1 can be viewed in detail below. Currently, no firm release date has been announcement, but we’ll likely learn more very soon.
