Sneaker News The younger generation of NBA superstars is bringing contemporary cartoon/anime franchises into the footwear fold. Zion Williamson, the New Orleans Pelicans superstar that has been missing in action this season due to injury, just teased an official collaboration with the globally popular anime Naruto with a simple logo lock-up featuring the Jumpman logo and Naruto Uzumaki calmly performing a between-the-legs slam dunk.
Based on the caption, there will be Jordan Zion 1 footwear involved, with apparel likely to come attached as well. The entire Jordan Zion 1 x Naruto collection will likely serve as a finale for the debut signature shoe for Zion before the official debut of the Jordan Zion 2.
Updated April 26th, 2022: The Jordan Zion x Naruto collection is officially unveiled; three colorways of the Jordan Zion 1 and an apparel capsule will release on May 11th and May 18th.
The yellow/orange “Kyuubi” aka “Nine Tails Mode” is a combination of the Nine-Tailed Chakra Mode with the Six Paths Sage Mode. It reflects the time when both Naruto and Zion harnessed their respective powers to fully control their untamed forces. This colorway releases on May 11th.
The “Nine Tails” in black/brown is a power that was untamed until Naruto sealed it within. A similar force lives within Zion, who in just a few short seasons has established himself as an unstoppable force in the NBA. This colorway releases on May 18th.
The white/black “Sage Of The Six Paths” is influenced by his family, friends, and peers, much like how the god-like Sage of Six Paths carries this power as the ancestor of Shinobi and the first Jinchuriki to exist. This colorway of the Zion 1 releases on May 18th.
In addition to the trio of footwear, a Naruto x Jordan Zion collection will be released alongside on May 11th.
