A lot has changed about the Air Tailwind since its commercial debut in 1979, as Nike has produced updates to the model a total of seven times thus far. And after bringing back the OG in 2018, the brand is finally looking to expand the line-up once more, doing so with the newly-unveiled Air Max TW.
Opting for a much simpler namesake, the Air Max TW blends and contorts elements from past entries in the Tailwind line-up. While some fixtures are more contemporary by comparison, others offer obvious to subtle callbacks to the past: for starters, the chevron-like detailing across the side seems loosely inspired by the Tailwind IV from 1999, albeit with a hints of the Air Max 270 React ENG. Moreover, the toe cap’s shape and embroidered Swoosh is reminiscent of the Tailwind 96 and the bottom conjures images of the Tailwind III’s own sole unit.
To make your own comparisons to past models, check out the official images of the Air Max TW below. These are expected to release this October, with more details to surface very soon.
In other news, the adidas Crazy 1 Stormtrooper arrives this week.
