Appearing concurrently alongside the Air Force 1’s many 40th Anniversary offerings are a series of nods to Nike Air itself. Previously, we’ve seen direct homages to Marion “Frank” Rudy, the founder of the cushioning; and now, via this newly-revealed Air Max 1, the brand is literally defining the technology.

The shoe’s tongue serves as the page for said definition, which describes the materials and function of Nike Air. A light, Volt-colored logo sits just underneath, matching only the branding on the insole. Across the exterior, the Swooshes and Air Max embroidery — the latter of which is ever-so-slightly tilted — are dressed in a much darker, olive shade that pops out against the rest of the construction, whose mesh and suede parts are finished in white and cream, respectively.

For a closer look at Air Max 1 shaped tribute, check out the official images below. As of writing this, the release date is unknown, but it’s likely these will hit Nike.com and select retailers before the end of the year.

In other news, official images of the Two 18 Air Jordan 2 surfaced last week.
