If you look back on adidas’ 2022 output, it’s very clear that the brand has hit a new stride, as they’ve delivered interesting — and extremely controversial — releases throughout the better part of the year. And for their latest proposition, they’re once again walking under the “Adventure” umbrella, taking in the 2000s and their outdoor archive to create the Rovermule.
The shoe is effectively an extension of the Roverend that debuted back in May, starting with the very same chunky, terraformed bottom. But rather than complement said fixture like its counterpart, the Rovermule juxtaposes the sole unit with a much sleeker, laceless construction. Built with a collapsible heel, allowing the silhouette to be worn as a mule or a sneaker, the upper consists of neoprene base accented with metallic Trefoil emblems, taped stripes, and a mesh side panel.
