Historically ridiculed by savvy sneaker collectors, the Nike Air Force 1 Mid has played an important role in the original design’s 40th anniversary. Forgoing the spike-reminiscent tread used by the late Virgil Abloh, the latest take on the mid-top silhouette opts for a relatively muted color palette accompanied by supportive messaging.
“FEEL LOVE” text is embroidered onto the pair’s lateral forefoot, giving personality to the tumbled leather panel on which it appears. Nearby base layers visible at the toe and mid-foot opt for a corduroy material that’s appropriate for fall and winter. Yet, profile swooshes, details on the tongue and hardware accompanying the lockdown strap around the ankle boast vibrant yellow, green and orange flair. The Air Force 1 also makes a statement with the questions and phrases printed onto the tongue label’s underside: “Who are you, really?” and “I am loving and compassionate to myself & others.” are presented in a text message thread-style, while “Welcome to your hApPy PLaCe by NIKE” and “MaDe iN yOuR DrEAms” follow close-by.
No firm Nike.com launch details have been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but that’s likely to change soon. While you wait, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
