Nike Basketball Signs Bronny James And Other Key Student Athletes

Family ties. Bronny James is joining his father, LeBron James, as a Nike athlete.

Alongside University of Iowa star Caitlin Clark, NCAA Champion and Stanford senior Haley Jones, DJ Wagner – the No. 1 player in the ESPN Top 100 – and two-time LA High School Player of the Year JuJu Watkins, Nike Basketball has announced their latest slew of NIL signings, boasting five of the best hoopers in both the men’s and women’s game.

“For as long as I can remember, Nike’s been a part of my family. Getting a chance to team up with them and continue my family’s legacy both on the court and in the community is wild — it really means a lot to me,” Bronny said.

With college and high school athletes receiving the ability to profit off of their name, image and likeness in 2021, The Swoosh became the first brand to sign teenage athletes on NIL deals back in May – securing a deal with sisters in the US National Soccer Team system.

Now fostering relationships with their future athletes and signature stars sooner than ever before, NIKE Inc. is allowing their latest signees to do what they do best, push the future of the game and culture forward.

“My family’s always given back to the community and now it’s my turn. With Nike’s support, I know I can make a difference. I can’t wait to share my love for the game with young athletes in Los Angeles — especially in the Watts community — and around the world,” Watkins said, a two-time MVP and Gold Medalist with USA Basketball’s U17 team.

“I grew up watching Nike athletes across all sports play their game. They have inspired me to work hard and make a difference. I’m humbled to be part of this first Nike basketball class and passionate about inspiring the next,” Clark added.

Sharing an innate knack at putting the ball in the hoop and leaving their communities better than they found them, the inaugural Nike Basketball High School Class is pushing the brand toward creating more impactful change while inspiring kids across the globe to follow suit in achieving their full potential on the hardwood.
