When you think of the greatest draft class to ever enter the NBA, who comes to mind? LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade in ’03 may instantly impress, but the legendary status attributed to those in the 1996 Class has long been cemented. Headlined by Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Steve Nash and Stephon Marbury, the star-studded cast huddled together after a rookie orientation event in Orlando for whats become one of the most iconic draft class photos ever corralled by and for the cover of SLAM Magazine’s February ’97 issue.
Missing from that fabled cover however, is the #1 overall pick Allen Iverson – who as the story goes, dipped out of Orlando shortly before the shoot got underway. Amended in 1999 by receiving his own cover that perfectly encapsulated the cultural movement AI was spearheading, his absence has continued to ring on in legend, now being materialized in Reeboks latest collaboration with Concepts.
Painting the Reebok Question Mid in the collective team colors represented on the cover, cracked leather panels dominate the model’s multi-color scheme whereas its titular red toe cap proffers a singular suede textile. The silhouette’s mesh tongue construction renders a colorless crisp white shading that additionally contrasts the silhouettes laces and midsole affixed with sky blue honeycomb pods. Blue, orange, purple, green and teal all feature a sampling while the Reebok logos come outfitted in a sparkling golden hue and concludes along the “CNCPTS” branded eye stays.
Set to release this Friday, October 21st exclusively at cncpts.com and CNCPTS Dubai, with a Reebok release scheduled for October 22nd, enjoy official imagery of the Concepts x Reebok Question Mid “Draft Class” below in the meantime.
