Under the guise of the “Refined Future” banner, the New Balance 2002R has quickly become one of the most beloved model’s in the Boston-based brand’s heritage-filled archives. As of late however, the silhouette has been in the midst of a short hiatus in order for the cohort to explore a multitude of once forgotten propositions.
Proffering the aesthetic of a wearable relic, the capsule collection – better known as the “Protection Pack” – has recently returned and is now extending a fall-friendly black and grey outfit.
Across a breathable mesh black base, a coat of color-matched ripped up pig suede establishes an eroded ensemble overtop whereas the soft suede overlays of the forefoot and lower ankle establish light and smoke grey shades. Furthering the greyscale tone, dark greys return to anchor the perforated heel counter while titular red accents lay claim to the 2002R branding and jet-blacks conclude along the retooled “N” logo and nubuck tongue construction. Underfoot, a medley of cream and beige employ a neutral-toned aesthetic across the bright red “N-ERGY” branded sole unit in conclusion.
While we sit tight on the pair’s expected release date within the coming weeks, enjoy a first look at the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack “Black/Grey” below in the meantime.
In other news, the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs” is rumored to be making a return in 2023.
