Over the last 73 years, adidas has been at the forefront of sportswear innovation. As the company heads into 2023, it’s come up with a crazy idea: Combining five of its most iconic developments of the last 30 years on one shoe, resulting in the AlphaBOOST V1.
Comprised of its modern “bread-and-butter,” as well as BOUNCE, adiPRENE, FORMOTION and ADIWEAR, the adidas AlphaBOOST V1 bears resemblance to the Y-3 Kaiwa, AlphaBOUNCE and other lifestyle shoes informed by sport. Yet, the components that go into forming the shoe have never shared the same design all at once. BOOST needs no introduction – landing at the heel – but it shares cushioning responsibilities with BOUNCE, a foam material that excels in comfort and flexibility. An adiPRENE EVA compound also joins the mix, providing impact reduction on harsh landings (be they running or jumping). FORMOTION structures around the heel (done in blue) offer stability and freedom of mobility, in particular on uneven ground. Lastly, ADIWEAR is applied to the outsole for reliable durability even in the toughest conditions. Together, each aforementioned component speaks to adidas’ history, while looking towards its future.
Enjoy a closer look at the pair ahead, as you wait for an official adidas.com launch.
