The Nike Air Max 1 has been celebrating its 35th anniversary all throughout 2022. And while the silhouette hasn’t returned to its original form, it has made references to past releases–both its own and other swoosh-branded counterparts.
Before the year ends, Tinker Hatfield’s iconic design is expected to launch in a “Pecan,” “Yellow Ochre,” “Baroque Brown,” “Limestone,” and “White” color combination seemingly rooted in the “Ugly Duckling” Nike Dunk Low collection from 2001. While none of the aforementioned colors make direct nods to the once-Japan-exclusive propositions, the mix of materials and tonal arrangement draw comparisons to the non-Air Max offerings. Furthermore, the embroidered duck motif on the spine enables the connection, although it may simply refer to the standalone duck. Sole units maintain a straightforward look with the waffle-patterned traction opting for a “Yellow Ochre” finish. Together, each aforementioned component helps expand the original Air Max’s already massive roster in a compelling way.
Enjoy a detailed look at the pair ahead, courtesy of Asphaltgold, and anticipate a Nike.com launch on Tuesday, December 20th.
