Following a summer featuring vibrantly-hued pastels, ASICS has continued to push its 1991 runner turned lifestyle proposition to new heights, most recently alongside the collaborative aid of Ronnie Fieg and atmos. Disparate textiles too, have run rampant across the GEL-Lyte III as the Japan-based institution continues its two-pack offerings of the OG silhouette, now coupled with tweed tooling.
Exploring an amalgamation of fabrics ideal for cozying up amidst the cooler climate, suedes envelop the mudguard and perforated vamp of the forefoot while its initial quarter and midfoot overlays employ a corduroy construction that additionally fills its sock liner. The side-swipe logo too, renders a pre-worn aesthetic before the once suede overlays upfront now enjoy a cracked leather build on the back half of the silhouette through its back tab, heel counter and connecting quarter panel. Underneath however, a tweed plaid base layer extends along the midfoot and heel while the pairs conclude with GEL cushioning technology inserted in the heel for a comfortable ride.
In keeping with the brand’s indulging of unique textures, the tweed outfits are comprised of two pairs, one that flaunts a muted “Tarmac/Mink” ensemble and a second that in contrast enjoys a “Brisket Red/Obsidian Grey” composition. Both silhouettes though, come anchored by matching white and cream midsoles in tandem with a vintage gum tread.
