Jovani Hernandez Over the past three years, A Ma Maniére has exploded in popularity thanks to its Air Jordan collaborations. The James Whitner-led team, however, has taken advantage of the mainstream platform to promote stories and issues important to it while also pushing for action. Its Air Jordan 12 collection is no different.
Teased in parts since July 2022, A Ma Maniére’s fifth project with the Jumpman family keeps things simple. Akin to the partnership’s last four retros, the two unreleased collaborations feature a titular “Burgundy” color throughout their upper, sole unit, and packaging. Whitner and company have only slightly modified two of the Jordan 12‘s original styles, adding premium materials to the iconic design. Co-branding exists throughout the pairs, furthering both parties’ legacies.
To unveil the project, A Ma Maniére released campaign material under the “She Is The Blueprint” banner. The creative agency and boutique celebrate Blackness – in particular Black women – with their next Air Jordan. “Win or lose, Black women move culture and mountains,” reads one of brand’s posts on Instagram. “Thank you for completing us.”
