The Nike Air Max Plus has been surprisingly absent for many of the brand’s recent festivities, from Lunar New Year to Valentine’s Day. The pair will not, however, be sitting out for this year’s Longtaitou Festival, which officially kicked off today.
Started in the Tang and Song dynasties — and known by many a different name — the Longtaitou Festival sits on the second day of the second month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. And whereas many enjoy traditional foods and cut their hair in celebration, Nike is crafting an extremely vibrant colorway of the Air Max Plus. A loud, blue-to-pink gradient washes over much of the upper, while neutrals — blacks, creams, and browns — dress many of the fixtures adjacent, including but not limited to the laces that wrap around the shoe itself. Red, an auspicious color in Chinese culture, is also present by way of the side Swoosh as well as the characters printed onto the sockliner.
Enjoy an official look at the Nike Air Max Plus “Longtaitou Festival” ahead. Currently, it’s not confirmed whether or not the pair will be seeing a stateside release. For now, sit tight and stay tuned for further updates.
In other news, a Mowabb-inspired Air Jordan 6 is in the works for Holiday 2023.
