Michigan’s Fab Five, Kobe Bryant and Reggie Miller all share one thing in common besides getting buckets on the hardwood, dressing up throughout the 90s and early Y2K era in the Nike Air Flight Huarache. Revealed to be returning at the tail end of 2022, the Tinker Hatfield and Eric Avar co-design has thus far previewed an original color blocking, one of Kobe’s first Nike PEs and now, a colorful homage to the decade’s baggy nylon sportswear trends.
Having last received the brand’s retro treatment back in 2014, the silhouette’s third repackaged effort harkens to the hues and structures associated with the era’s vibrant tracksuits after first casting a duo of cream-centric neutrals across the leather forefoot, laces, sole unit and presiding exoskeleton body. Engaging in the shades found within a mid-90s aerobics class, a soft pink consumes the neoprene tongue construction and mid-foot overlay while its inner bootie and branded heel tab inject a titular teal blue lining the interior of the latter. Complimented by a dark navy collar, yellow “AIR” embroidery curtails the heel while the chosen color palette embarks in full along the “Nike Gear” insoles.
While we await the model’s return in April, in the meantime enjoy official images of the Air Flight Huarache “Nike Gear” below.
