adidas Pays Homage To The Utah Jazz OG Uniforms With The Rivalry And Forum Lo

Having recently hosted the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, the Utah Jazz have simultaneously begun indulging back in the iconic jersey designs that ran rampant throughout the 80s and 90s over the past few seasons. Taking a quick trip back through the archives, the adidas Originals team has returned with two of its OG basketball toolings dressed in a titular homage to the organization’s throwback uniforms.

Comprised of the adidas Rivalry and Forum in both their low-top constructions, the silhouettes infuse classic basketball embellishments in addition to its honorary color blockings. For starters, each silhouette’s mesh underlays cast across the vamp, mid-foot, heel and tongue construction mirror the synonymous jersey-knit construction of the League’s old-school uniforms while genuine leather overlays keep things luxurious above.

Inspired by their current Classic Nike uniforms and the appearance of Salt Lake City’s synonymous mountainous landscape on their jerseys from 1996-2004, the adidas Rivalry Lo sports a purple-to-sail back-to-front gradient across its mesh base layer. Illuminated by swatches of “Sky Rush” throughout, the presiding overlays come dipped in a vintage “Chalk White” association whereas a seldom brown accent lines the trio of tones coordinating amongst the knit 3-Stripes.

Turning the clock back even further, the adidas Forum Lo incorporates the Jazz’ inaugural uniform base worn from the team’s founding in 1974 to 1996. Most widely attributed to the time of Mark Eaton and Adrian Dantley, a similar blank white base consumes a majority of the upper’s leather tooling while collecting a trio of accents in “Energy Ink”, “Bold Gold” and forest green.
