Jared Ebanks Next weekend Jordan Brand is evoking the nostalgia of Michael Jordan’s rookie year and his signature Jumpman dunk with the Air Jordan 1 ‘”Skyline”. Depicting the sunset hues that lit the backdrop of the 1985 photo atop a clad canvas base, one of the last remaining silhouettes from the brand’s springtime release schedule is receiving an early drop courtesy of Extra Butter this Friday.
Enacting a pastel-infused gradient, a palette comprised of “True Blue/Iced Lilac/Vivid Orange” ensues across the silhouette’s overlays while jet-black contrasts embolden the laces, sock liner, Swoosh and winged insignia. Reimagining its Lower East Side retail space, the New York City boutique is preparing a unique in-store experience in anticipation of the official launch date on April 8th. Titled “Sky’s The Limit” the upcoming campaign centers around a video featuring UNC Basketball commit Ian Jackson sharing his journey with the youth while recreating the iconic dunk that cemented the legacy of Jordan Brand.
Highlighting the work of five entrepreneurial creatives – artist Zeehan Wazed, restaurateur Cory Ng, garment manufacturer Ntim Abrokwa, recording artist Al Doms and stylist Shanese Dianna – EB connected the local youth with the latter individuals that “embody the dusk till dawn New York hustle,” said Extra Butter’s creative director Bernie Gross.
Hosting the in-store launch tomorrow, March 31st, the general release for the Air Jordan 1 “Skyline” is slated for next Saturday, April 8th, within the US while the pair will debut in Europe and Asia on April 18th.
