Collaborations have evolved dramatically over the course of the last few years, as footwear brands have becoming increasingly closer to their partners. New Balance and ASICS, for example, sought to officially employ the talents of Teddy Santis and Kiko Kostadinov, respectively, providing these designers full reign over their own inline offerings. Now, Crocs is following suit, appointing the revered Salehe Bembury as Creative Director of the “Pollex Pod” collection.
“We exist in a landscape of ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ collaborations, so the value lies in long-term relationships and that’s what we’ve established,” said Bembury. “Good design exercises restraint and balances utility with beauty and the Pollex Pod represents that by successfully merging Crocs’ brand identity with my own brand identity.”
A first-of-its-kind partnership for Crocs, the appointment brings Salehe Bembury further into the brand’s fold. As Creative Director of the “Pollex Pod” collection, Bembury will expand upon the foundation established with the Pollex Clog, with new silhouettes and colorways to be introduced as part of the range very soon.
Crocs has yet to reveal what exactly is on the way in the near future. They have, however, confirmed that the first installment of new silhouettes from the Pollex Pod collection will be announced later this Spring.
