Following their 20-point win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have definitively locked up the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference for the second-straight postseason. And with the official release of his first signature silhouette with The Swoosh set to debut in the coming weeks, the upcoming months could treat us to a number of disparate color combos, such as this “Light Smoke Grey” effort.
From opposing tongue tabs to flip-flopped quarter overlays, the Nike Ja 1 has indulged in a mismatched aesthetic throughout each of its previewed colorways. Casting minute detail changes like flipping the colors of the heel’s #12 or rendering its upper in conflicting shades, the pictured ensemble falls somewhere in the middle of balancing its every-other palette as blank white hues consume both the feet’s mesh uppers. Elsewhere, the remainder of the tooling resides exclusively in incongruity.
Contrasting its cloud-like introduction, the right foot looks toward a midnight black to line the heel tab, sock liner and laces while medium grey hues envelop the autographed foxing, aglets and continuous Swoosh. Dipping its mid-foot lockdown system in an ever-so-light grey, an Off-White midsole interrupts the color-matched baby blue tread and full-length mudguard. As for the left, the first appearance of “Smoke Grey” anchors the nylon liner and leather quarter whereas the laces and tread mirror the neutral greyscale tincture with the mid-foot Check coming dipped in a glaring pitch-black. In closing, hits of “Goldenrod” come darkened and illuminated with a finishing titular touch along the tongue tabs and heel embroidery.
