When the Air Max 1 was first produced back in 1986, roughly 400,000 pairs featured the “Big Bubble.” And while the Swoosh quickly moved on from the tooling in the years thereafter, 2023 would see its return. Now, the oversized Air Unit is here to stay, appearing atop much more than the Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette’s original look.
In addition to the “Indigo Haze” and “Smokey Mauve,” the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 will also be releasing in an “Anthracite” colorway. Clothed in an OG-styled color blocking, the pair brushes its titular hue along the mudguard, Swoosh, and outsole. “Light Silver” and “Light Pumice” are then used along the base, alternating along its mesh and suede fixtures. Finally, white sidewalls and “Barely Volt” insoles round out the shoe right underfoot.
Enjoy an official look at the next big bubbled Air Max 1 ’86 ahead. No firm release date has yet to be confirmed, but we should be learning more very soon.
In other news, the Air Jordan 1 Metallic Red is returning for 2024.
