As the year moves along quicker and quicker, more sneaker news has made the rounds.
In an unexpected turn of events, NIGO was linked to a NIKE, Inc. partnership. The Japanese figure sold A BATHING APE more than 10 years ago, but his work while at the brand was the recent focus of a lawsuit by the Swoosh. According to Complex, which reported on the story first, the partnership is still in its early stages, but something should come into fruition by 2024.
NIGO and adidas had been working together for more than 20 years, but that relationship will end if the “General” signs with Nike. On its own front, the Three Stripes took social media by storm with its adidas Campus 80s “Croptober,” a special pair in honor of April 20 (4/20). Its tear-away uppers and hairy green underlays have led many netizens to crown the shoe as the best marijuana-inspired offering of the year. Elsewhere, the German sportswear behemoth unveiled an all-purple adidas Samba by Pharrell’s Humanrace label with the help of photographer Tyler Mansour.
The long-rumored third Air Jordan 1 by Union Los Angeles surfaced via unofficial photos. While the image isn’t flattering, it delivers a look at Chris and Beth Gibbs’ latest project for NIKE, Inc. that’s been backed with descriptions given by reliable sources. Many fans of the West Coast duo’s past work have expressed disappointment in the Air Jordan retro, but the shoe will undoubtedly sell out once it releases before summer ends.
