The Jordan MVP 678 has recently appeared in an Air Jordan 7 “Playoffs” (also known as “Raptors”)-reminiscent color scheme.
Although the hybrid model hasn’t been in the spotlight for long, it’s quickly garnered fandom from casual and savvy consumers alike. Mashups of iconic Air Jordan models have historically gotten flack, but recent years have been even more critical of the Jumpman family’s hybrids. Yet, the MVP 678 has gotten more attention than other fairly-new propositions for its story and design: the silhouette combines the narrative and details of the three shoes with which Michael Jordan won his first three NBA championships.
Predominantly clad in black, the latest Jordan MVP 678 resembles an inaugural Jordan 7. While now widely associated with the Toronto Raptors franchise, the mix of purple, red, and black that debuted in the Air Jordan line did so during the 1991-1992 NBA Playoffs. Thus, the color trifecta received the “Playoffs” moniker in its earliest days. The color scheme’s application on the hybrid design sees purple and red flair animate branding, pull tabs, and patterns from the Air Jordan 8 on the sides. The remainder of the shoe keeps things straightforward while icy blue traction zones round out the pair.
