Bodega’s collaborative stream continues with this latest project with New Balance, a loose follow-up to their X-Racer collaboration from way back in 2020 at the height of the global pandemic. While embodying a clear-cut “outdoor” styling, Bodega actually looked towards an NYC-based pigeon handler named Hubert aka Live Action, creating a parallel narrative that reflected “The Trail Less Taken” (read more about it here).
The recently revived 610 silhouette, which had sat dormant in the archives for eleven years, is at center spotlight. They’ve chosen the under-utilized and under-appreciated silhouette for a reason — to demonstrate their burning desire to go against the grain with their project. This colorway, which Bodega themselves liken to a “Skeletor” colorway, is also inspired by the colors of the winged creatures that Live Action himself tames on his Brooklyn rooftop. Touches of dark navy, teal, and light purple perfectly overlap the moodboard created for this project, staying true to color palettes fit for the great outdoors.
The shoes will be available exclusively at Bodega on June 9th for $160; a later release on New Balance will likely arrive later in the month.
In other New Balance news, Action Bronson’s “Lapis Lazuli” New Balance 990v6 is set to drop on June 30th.
