Focused on a sound mind and body, ASICS has developed its brand and lineup of products with a dedicated philosophy. Throughout the years, the Japanese brand has referenced its native country via footwear, bringing East Asian culture around the world.
Recently, the Tokyo-based company launched two ASICS GEL-Lyte V pairs as part of the “Godai” collection. Translated into English to mean “five generations,” “Godai” references the five elements in Japanese philosophy: fire, water, earth, void, and wind. Each sneaker prepped as part of the lineup features a color palette reflective of an element’s physical properties. Leather, nubuck, and suede overlays, then, take on “Bengal Orange,” “Eggplant,” “Arctic Blue,” and other hues. Each pair is also complemented by a coin dubrae embossed with the Japanese symbol for the sneakers’ respective elements. Underfoot, the sole unit maintains its original design from 1993, although at least 20% recycled materials are used.
Enjoy official photos of each pair ahead. Some color schemes are currently available via asics.com, while others will release soon for $140 USD.
