Sneaker News adidas Yeezy footwear is returning to retailers (sneaker boutiques and Foot Locker) beginning in August.
After reports of Foot Locker releasing Yeezy footwear next month, independent retailers have confirmed with Sneaker News that they will also be carrying Ye’s footwear beginning next month. Up to eighteen different Yeezy footwear releases, which include sneakers and Yeezy Slides and Yeezy Foam Runners, are expected drop in a staggered schedule.
Back in October 2022, adidas chose to terminate their partnership with Kanye West after over antisemitic comments. Brand representatives stated “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech”. In May of 2023, adidas announced that the brand and Kanye have come up with an agreement to sell off the existing Yeezy stock, with proceeds of the profits going towards the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change and other organizations.
Foot Locker was at the forefront of the retailer resistance, stating “we will not be supporting any future Yeezy product drops, and we have instructed our retail operators to pull any existing product from our shelves”. On July 17th, reports stated that Foot Locker would be carrying adidas Yeezy footwear throughout the month of August. Foot Locker is among several different retailers that had existing distribution agreements with the Yeezy brand long before the decision to cut ties with Kanye; this allows both the brand and retailer to complete the agreement and officially move on.
