The late Kobe Bryant’s “Italian Camo” Kobe 6 has recently surfaced via in-hand photography. Visually, the Protro version features all of the same components with which the sneaker launched in June 2011. An exact Nike SNKRS release date hasn’t been disclosed by either the Swoosh or Kobe Bryant Estate, but that’s likely to change in the first quarter of 2024.

Last month, Nike CEO John Donahoe stated in the Q4FY23 earnings call that the Kobe Brand would relaunch on August 24th. Since then, a handful of Kobe Bryant-related product has been rumored to return over the next year, including the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Italian Camo.”
First released in June 2011, the “Italian Camo” Kobes brought one of several stealthy finishes to Bryant’s sixth signature model. The original pair featured a “Multi-Color,” “Crimson,” “Black,” and “White” color scheme, which borrowed inspiration from the Italian military’s uniforms. The understated Kobe 6 wasn’t the Los Angeles Lakers legend’s only tribute to the country he once called home, but it’s the first to be rumored to return since his passing. Protro editions of the sneaker feature a slightly-different “Black/Crimson Bog/Khaki” arrangement that may ultimately result in a noticeably different “Italian Camo” offering. Nevertheless, the news of another Kobe 6 Protro has already been welcomed with open arms (and pockets) by countless netizens, as it suggests Donahoe’s promise is on course to be fulfilled.
