The heyday of tennis and cross-training in the late 1980’s and into the early 1990’s continues to bask in the warmth of the limelight thanks to thoughtful releases of past icons. The Air Trainer 1 deserves a lot of the attention due to the proper re-issue of the “Chlorophyll” and other OG colorways since 2022, but this upcoming “Citron” should strike the right chord for Nike Tennis enthusiasts.
Seen here is a standard pair of Air Trainer 1s donning one of the most iconic colorways of 1990s. That would be the “Citron”, immortalized by the Air Trainer SC II in 1989. Most commonly associated with Bo Jackson, the Air Trainer SC II is remembered for its use of vibrant neon shades like the bright Infrared and the “Citron” you see here, composed by a a bright yellow/green, teal, and shades of grey. It’s ported over to the Air Trainer 1, although the placement of the colors don’t quite match up to the shoe that inspired this release.
This Nike Air Trainer 1 is coming soon to Nike.com and partnering retailers for $125, so stay tuned for further updates.
