Nike ISPA is known to deal in the unconventional. And though they’ve designed no shortage of unique sneakers, we’re still somewhat taken aback by the Mindbody. Among one of the sub-label’s most unique offerings to date, the silhouette is appearing once more for Fall/Winter ’23, dressing up in a print seemingly inspired by the Japanese art of Suminagashi.
Suminagashi — or “Floating Ink,” as it’s referred to in English — is the ancient technique of Japanese marbling. Requiring only a brush, water, and paper, the art form is a slow, albeit relaxing process, where you float ink atop water to create one-of-a-kind patterns. The results are not too dissimilar to what’s found on this upcoming colorway of the Mindbody, whose white primeknit upper is covered entirely in waves of black ink.
Enjoy a closer look at this Nike Mindbody via the official images ahead. These should be available soon, hitting not only Nike.com but also select retailers.
