Over the past few years, NIKE, Inc. has launched full-on capsules to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Prepped under a “Familia” banner, the collections have brought ultra-vibrant an ornate arrangements to classics from the Oregon-based institution. The Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 joins the “Familia” lineup scheduled for 2023.
Starkly different from previously-seen Nike Air Max 1 and Pegasus 40 styles, the modernized retro opts for a subdued “Black” and “Pale Ivory” color scheme. Leather panels throughout the upper indulge in a faded aesthetic that seemingly nods to the artifacts and relics archeologists find all throughout Latin America. Embroidered flora land on the toe box and profiles, further expanding the Air Jordan 1‘s off-court legacy. A skull donning a feather headdress introduces a gold touch to the lateral heel, likely nodding to the outfits worn during carnival celebrations in Colombia and other Spanish-speaking territories. Underfoot, the Formula 23-assisted sole unit also dons a “Black’ to “Pale Ivory” gradient that complements the upper.
Enjoy retailer photography of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS launch soon. A launch outside the U.S. is expected on October 1st.
