Michael Le As massive as the extended adidas family may be, few names have had as much of an impact on the brand as Yohji Yamamoto. And to celebrate two whole decades of collaboration, the Three Stripes is releasing a very special, yet grounded take on the Stan Smith.
adidas Y-3 is absolutely no stranger to the Stan Smith. But despite having reworked the tennis staple numerous times, yet has the sub-label presented a style quite as simple as this. Although constructed of higher quality materials, the model is the near spitting image of the original at a glance. Branding, however, sees notable tweaks: in addition to the tonal co-branding imprinted into the heel, Stan Smith’s portrait has been swapped out for that of Yohji Yamamoto himself.
Prepared in two appropriately understated colorways, the adidas Y-3 Stan Smith is available right now overseas with adidas.com stateside to follow suit shortly. Enjoy a closer look at both options below as we wait for the shoes to become more widely available.
In other news, official images of the ASICS NOVALIS GEL-TEREMOA recently surfaced.
